First time trying Ethiopian food and I’d say this is a good place to start. They offer sampler plates with both meat and vegetarian options so you can try out a variety of their dishes. Tasty food and good presentation, would definitely recommend.
I came here for lunch, I asked the waiter what was the spicy ones she showed me the top 3. I went with the beef like she recommended. It was nice I wouldn’t mind to go try the chicken wot. The food was nice look forward to trying other things.
Fabulous food for a good price. Sampler platters are perfect if you’re new to Ethiopian or really hungry. The restaurant atmosphere is humble and the service pace is rather casual, but if it’s food that matters to you it won’t disappoint. For 4 people, a veg and non-veg sampler plus a little extra injera is plenty. As for drinks, the seltzer cocktail is very refreshing, highly recommend, and a heads up—the honey wine is very sweet! If you want to be served really quickly go for an early dinner.
Ordered the combination dish Taste of Sheba, along with an additional side dish of collard greens and chef’s special tibs. Honestly felt short changed with the amount of food we got for the price. Maybe they thought we were tourists who never had Ethiopian before, so was ok to give less? The reviews and other people’s pics made this place looked so good, and I thought was worth trying, but I was quite disappointed. As always, my question for any restaurant is this- is it worth going back for a second time? Alas, I’d have to say no to this place… at least not until I tried all the other Ethiopian restaurants in NYC.
Ordered via iPad the vegetarian Sheba sampler dish and lentil sambousa. The sampler is a nice option to try a variety of dishes, however, the gomen wot didn’t have enough flavour IMO. The misir wot was delicious and my favourite.
We were seated quickly and our order came out in a reasonable time too. The restaurant is definitely a popular place.
We had the Vegeterian Platter & the Lega Tibs.
Overall, it was pretty good but the veggie platter could be better. It lacks some elements and was not as savory as it should be.
The veggie platter is usually the best indication for how great an Ethiopian restaurant is. Because it involves so many ingredients, it is usually difficult to get it right. But it's one of the most flavorful and staple dishes back in Ethiopia.
Delicious and a great intro for Ethiopian cuisine, which is so good.
The resturuant isn’t much to look at inside or out but the food really is so tasty.
I’ve been many times and also think the prices are reasonable.
Food is good. Good portions. First time to try Ethiopian food. It was the right place to start with.
